EFC-800 MEMBRANE HARDENER AND CONCRETE SEAL

Background and development of EFC-800. In the early 1960’s we received an inquiry from a big construction company in Sweden regarding our possibilities to develop a product with the following properties.

1. The product should be a liquid, functioning as a concrete seal on newlaid concrete floors, at the same time as it should give the floor a permanent covering.

2. The product should also be applicable as a seal of concrete floors already alid, and thus gice the floor a dust-free and easily cleaned surface. The price should be abt 50% cheaper than the prices for concrete varnishes and concrete paints.

3. The product should be easy to apply, even by amateurs.

4. The product should be fireproof, quick-setting and easy to acclimatize to the environment.

After more than 2 years research and in an intimate cooperation with the construction company, Skånska Cementgjuteriet AB, we managed to develop a product corresponding to the requirements. In consequence of very intense studies of more than 100.000 m² of floors for test purposes, the product was ready for a bigger marketing. We are happy to state the fact that EFC-800 has aroused a great interest around the world.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION. EFC-800 MEMBRANE HARDENER.

EFC-800 is to be used on 24 hours old concrete, where the application should be carried out within 10 hours. By covering the new-poured concrete with EFC-800 you escape from covering the floor with damp plastic sheeting or sprinkling it with water. The concrete damp penetrates very slowly through EFC-800, thereby eliminating the risk of cracks appearing on account of a too quick evaporation.

After abt 2 – 3 weeks, EFC-800 turns into a more permanent flooring. As the absorbtion capacity differs in the concrete, a second application should be carried out about 3 – 5 days after the first one. This second application will eliminate the dull stains eventually arising because of the varying absorbtion capacity of the concrete.

EFC-800 CONCRETE SEAL

All over the world there are plenty of dusty concrete floors, walls and ceilings. Here EFC-800 is used as a complement to expensive concrete paints, varnishes etc. On concrete surfaces, where there are no aestetical demands but still a dust-laying demand, EFC-800 is the right product. EFC-800 is applied by means of a brush, a roller or a sprayer. The application can be carried out by anyone. The only thing to do is to remove irritating stains and vacuum or sweep the surface.

EFC-800 sets in about 1 – 2 hours at a temperature of 18 degrees, after which the second application should take place in immediate connection with the first one. The EFC-curface can be walked upon as soon as it is hard enough for foot-passengers, but let the surface harden for 48 – 72 hours before exposing it to hard trucktraffic a.s.o.!

As EFC-800 is a transparent flooring, the surface can easily be touched up on the spots, where a hard wear and tear might arise. EFC-800 resists oils, greases and dirt just as well as any other flooring. If you should wish to paint, putty or lime some other flooring on top of the EFC-treated surface after some time, this will meet with no bigger problems.

-EFC-800 has been tested by the National Swedish Research Laboratory (certificate No. 1291-16).

-EFC-800 has been examined by Casco AB as to the adhesion of floor limes, putty etc.

-EFC-800 has been HILTI-tested (breaking strain test) with no difference between treated and untreated concrete surface.

-EFC-800 has been tested by KEMI-NYSTRÖM AB with regard to the adhesion to epoxy, polyurethane varnishes, vinyl paints etc.

EFC-800 is declared a trade product and YSAM- classified into group 0 by the Swedish Paint Manufacturers Association.

Over 2,5 millions m² of EFC-800-treated floors have been laid around the world, where we have exported EFC-800 to among others Colombia, Kenya, Algeria, Saudi-Arabia, Finnland, Norway, Denmark a.s.o. To- day EFC-800 is produced under licence in Denmark and negotiations are taking place at present with many other countries regarding production under licence.
